{"id":427,"date":"2022-02-15T11:48:25","date_gmt":"2022-02-15T16:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/animation.monmouth.edu\/instruct\/?p=427"},"modified":"2022-03-06T11:53:09","modified_gmt":"2022-03-06T16:53:09","slug":"frankie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/animation.monmouth.edu\/instruct\/modeling\/frankie\/","title":{"rendered":"Modeling a Head"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/animation.monmouth.edu\/instruct\/modeling\/poly-modeling\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"258\">Poly Modeling<\/a> technique provides a way to create organic models with good topology. <a href=\"https:\/\/animation.monmouth.edu\/instruct\/tag\/quad-draw\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"46\">Quad Draw<\/a> is a useful tool for poly modeling. It works best when you have a shape to build on, like a high resolution scan of sculpt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This page presents a hybrid approach to modeling a head, using sculpting and Quad Draw. The sculpt is created in Maya. There are better tools for sculpting, like Mudbox or ZBrush, but I use Maya to keep it all in a single software package in hopes of easing the learning curve for my students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this example I use mugshots as reference, just like I did in an older <a href=\"https:\/\/animation.monmouth.edu\/instruct\/modeling\/poly-modeling-demo\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"273\">Poly Modeling Demo<\/a>.
