In this video, I lay out a somewhat automated way to set the Focus Distance correctly when rendering with Depth of Field. It involves connecting a distance measuring tool to the camera.
Below is the node editor network used. This is from a scene where the units were not set to the standard, and Maya insisted on putting a unitConversion node it. The conversion has to be set to one, thus no conversion, to work properly.
